Peer review process and time allocation

The journal follows exclusively the double-blind peer review process, with a previous "relevance" review and a punctual follow-up given by the section editors. The process is as follows:

1) First stage: within a maximum period of three working weeks, the Scientific-Editorial team of the journal determines whether the submission conforms to its policies and guidelines, and whether it meets the criteria of ethics and good publication practices.

2) Second stage: the article is sent for review, for which a first round of double-blind peer review is opened; the time of this stage depends on the availability and response of the referees.

3) Third stage: the arbitration opinions are received and processed, and if pertinent and necessary, a second round is opened, which, as a matter of policy, should not exceed two working weeks.

4) Fourth stage: if the article is accepted by the blind peers, one week will be given to the Scientific-Editorial Council for its final evaluation and, if necessary, the issuance of any additional recommendation or observation required.

5) Fifth stage: the Technical-Editorial team of the journal proceeds with the production phase, in which style correction, layout and management of metadata for publication are carried out.

Two types of decisions are made in the journal: the arbitration decision and the editorial decision. The latter is reserved for the Editor-in-Chief, who is responsible to the Scientific-Editorial Council of the journal.

Average processing time: four months.
